United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)

The USMCA entered into force on July 1, 2020. The Agreement represents the most significant change in North American trade rules in 25 years, and the changes to the automotive rules of origin and origin procedures present significant business challenges for vehicle manufacturers and automotive suppliers. Failure to understand and comply with these new rules could expose companies to compliance risks, including tariffs, high compliance costs, legal challenges, and reduced competitiveness. We help companies proactively manage the challenges of USMCA compliance and minimize compliance costs and risk.

USMCA Rules of Origin

Autovisory provides expert analysis and advice on USMCA automotive rules of origin and USMCA labor provisions, including the Agreement text, Uniform Regulations, and Implementation Guidelines. We provide a full range of cost-effective USMCA services and can work directly with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as with the governments of Canada and Mexico to resolve specific concerns and assure compliance with the Agreement’s calculation methodologies, labor provisions, customs certifications, customs procedures, and Alternative Staging Regimes.
